Overall corvettes have been an amazing sports car to buy. With the exception of the 1980's it has been a great consumer car. It all started with the first generation C1 in 1953. The first corvettes only came stock with a L6 and later in 1955 with v8 engines. When I think of classic cars the one car that always comes to mind is the 1958 Corvette. Its such a good looking car! Then came the sting ray in the 60's which had great looks as well as performance. Corvette was Americas "pride and joy" in the early 60's. The 60's was the peak of corvette in my eyes. Even throughout the years to come Corvette managed to still kept its looks and somewhat performance up until now. I am very disappointed to see what Corvette is releasing for 2013. But then, I go back and look at the beautiful cars they made back in the day when American cars had style.

VW Bus (Type 2)

The Volkswagen Type 2 is a world icon of "The Van." Volkswagen was truly the first to bring the revolution of the modern passenger vehicle. The Type 2 was also another iconic hippie symbol, often referred to as a "hippie van." The Buses were also sold as campers. They came with a built in sink and foldable table, on later models foldable roofs were added to sleep. Other versions of the VW bus include everything from a delivery van to a flatbed truck to even a rail going draisine(a car that drives on railroad track). Many companies soon after copied VW by making their own versions such as the American car companies like Ford Econoline, Chevy Greenbrier, and Dodge A100.


Whats not to like about these vans. They are probably the only type of van I like. But the unique iconic design of the 60's makes it a loved van by all sorts of generations.

VW Corrado



The Volkswagen Corrado was more of an unknown car that Volkswagen made. They only made 97,521 of these cars in its short lifetime from 1988 to 1995. It was a 3-door hatchback coupe. It was easily confused with the Scirocco because of the similar body style. The Corrado was a high performance VW that offered a 1.9 liter VR6 stock engine. It produced about 192 horse power. It also offered smaller engines like the 1.8L I4 Supercharger at 160hp. One of the neat features of this car is that it had a rear spoiler that automatically raised when reaching freeway speeds.

Porsche 911




The Porsche 911 has changed very little over its 40 plus years. The 911 is special because of its air cooled design and the engine in the back. It was a revolutionary design at the time. The Porsche has changed very little over the years. Its kept the air cool system until recently in 1998 when it became water cooled. The 911 has always been a great sports car through the years. Porsche has strive to perfection. 911 are very recognizable from other sports cars because they have been around so long. What I love about Porsche 911's is that they haven't become triangular like so many other sports have. The Porsche body has remained smooth and curvy. The reason Porsche has kept the same design on the car is because their customers like it. Why change a design that so many people have come to love and admire.

Datsun 510

The 510 was a car produced by Nissan under the Datsun name. The cars were built from 1968-1973. The Datsun 510 is a popular and collectible car in today's world. Datsun cars are known for their interchangeable parts. The Datsun 510 can be easily modified to a 2.0L L20B. The transmissions can be swapped with a 5 speed manual. The car came in 2-doors or 4-door model. It has a 4 speed manual or 3 speed automatic transmission stock.




The Datsun 510 is mainly known by its iconic looks. The classic front grill of the car is one of its best features. The Rally kits used for these cars also looks superb. The 510 has a lot of chrome touches that brings out the beauty in the car. Datsun 510 enthusiasts restore these cars using bright colors to give a classic old school style. Datsun 510's are classic import cars that are cheap and easy to mod or replace parts. I think the Datsun 510 is one of the best Japanese cars from the 70's/60's era. It is definitely one of my favorite cars and favorite car companies.

Triumph

The Triumph Motor Company was the higher end British sports car back in the day. It all started in 1863 when the company started making motorcycles. In the begining the motors for the bikes came from other industries but later Triumph themselves started developing there own motors. Some Triumph Motorcycles were used in WWI. In 1918 Triumph Motorcycles were number one.

The first car Triumph introduced was the 10/20 in 1923. Then in 1953 triumph introduced there sporting line up starting with the TR-2. The TR line up lasted from 1953 to 1981. My favorite TR's are the TR-4, TR-250, TR-6 and the TR-8. I think the TR-4/TR-250 had the best body style. The TR-250 had a better engine (2498cc Straight 6) then the TR-4 (2138 inline 4). The biggest engine of them all was seen in the TR-7 and TR-8 which both had a V8 engine. The TR-8 was the last model of the series.

Sadly, the name Triumph disappeared. In 1984, when the Acclaim was replaced by the Rover 200, which was a rebadged version of Honda's next generation Civic/Ballade model. Nowadays Triumph is owned by BMW. It is sad to see how Triumph was not as reconized in America as MG was. Triumph was the higher end version of the MG.

Honda CRX



The Honda CRX was a car that was built from 1983 to 1991. There are 2 generations of the car. This is my favorite Japanese car and definitely in my top 10 favorite cars. The engines that came with the first generation has a 1.3 or 1.5 liter engine. The 2nd generation has a 1.4 or 1.6 liter engine. In Japan the car came with an option of a VTEC engine is later seen in the Integra in the US. This offered 150hp! The great thing about these cars is that it is a fun, fast, and affordable car. This car is also a great gas saver. The 2nd generation got 41mpg!!! When most people think of a car that gets 40mpg's back in the 90's, they think of a car that is either expensive or ugly. The CRX was able to be a sports car while saving gas money. For being a Honda the car can ran well over 200,000 miles on the engine. The CRX could be a great car for autocross/racing or a daily commuter car. I have seen CRX's online that have 300,000 miles on them, and still running good. The CRX has won many awards. The CR-X was Motor Trend's Import Car of the Millenium for 1990. It also made Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1985. The redesigned CR-X was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1988. The CR-X Si was Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year for 1988. The 1988 CR-X Si was named one of Road & Track's 10 Best Cars of All Time.
